Some of the work at TBA is hard to watch. Ten Tiny Dances is the opposite. It’s a thrill and a joy and a downright good time, an always-lively series of 10 new dances by 10 different artists that’s become a must-see audience favorite since the series debuted in 2002. Instead of allowing choreographers to work within the infinite spaces and settings that dance allows, the fun of 10 Tiny Dances comes from its constraint: The short works must be performed entirely on a miniscule four-by-four-foot stage placed in the middle of the theater. The restricted space prompts creativity and the quick, diverse, back-to-back dances can strike like a lightning bolt or come and go like an easy laugh. SM
