We Put it Together So We Could Take it Apart

The Blow

When: Sun., Sept. 15, 8:30 p.m. and Mon., Sept. 16, 8:30 p.m. 2013

Whatever happened to the Blow, anyway? Their epochal album Paper Television came out allllll the way back in 2006. Since then, Jona Bechtolt has gone off YACHT-ing while founding member Khaela Maricich moved to New York and turned the Blow into a collaboration with installation artist Melissa Dyne. At long last, they’ve finally finished another Blow album—cleverly titled The Blow—but before it comes out in October, Maricich and Dyne offer a special TBA performance, nine years after the two first met at 2004’s TBA Festival. Using live samples and Dyne’s visual work, the Blow find the line between the human and the synthetic, resulting in uniquely forlorn but addictive pop music. NED LANNAMANN
